She later expanded her skills by adding ballet, modern, tap and theater art to her roster, all while completing her bachelor's degree at Cal State Fullerton in California. Ten years on, Midori discovered International Latin and Standard ballroom dance, and entered the world of competitive ballroom dancing. With remarkable speed, she achieved outstanding results in the national major competitions as an amateur, and turned to professional competition in 1998. She went on to earn the title of finalist in a variety of competitions throughout the United States.

Midori's strong desire to improve her dancing also led her to become a teacher, and she studied with many top coaches in the US as well as abroad. On top of broadening her understanding of the fundamental principles of dance, she wanted to understand body movement at a deeper level, and began a thorough study and practice of a variety of related disciplines: Pilates, the Alexander Technique, yoga, Feldenkrais Method, Reiki, and Qigong, just name a few. Her knowledge and experience goes beyond traditional teaching methods. Midori Ono's uniquely developed approach gives students a bridge to tune into themselves in a way that provides incomparable insight. Her students benefit in a unique way by discovering their integral selves through dance.
